The History
of Plants Galore
The following text is taken from an article written
by Ronald Webber for 'The Grower' and was printed on November 30th
1957:
"Mr J.Koert was 22 when he came from Holland to
try his luck as a grower in the Lea Valley back in 1935. Now 22
years later, he is the owner of Eagle Nurseries at Roydon in Hertfordshire
(sic), with ten acres of land and 1.5 acres of glass.
Mr Koert started with the familiar Lea Valley crops,
tomatoes and cucumbers. But his heart was in flowers and eight years
ago he switched to pot plants.
From the beginning he aimed at getting a good name
in the markets. How he has succeeded is shown in the eagerness of
keen market buyers to find boxes of pot plants labelled J.KOERT.
ROYDON.
At this time of year, cyclamen holds pride of place
as 60 size pots are particularly wanted at Christmas"
